Complete, ready-to-operate factories In the increasingly international atmosphere of industrial production, Danish companies have made their skills and experience available through technology transfer deals, either alone or in conjunction with a project package. The project can involve a complete, ready-to-operate factory, cool store or other facility which has been tested and is ready for production. These projects generally include a staff training package and offer a long-term technical support programme as well. Past projects of this type have ranged from pharmaceutical production to refrigerated storage, hotels, ports and fish processing factories. The transport sector includes some of the world's largest shipping companies. The Danish mercantile fleet, with a total tonnage of 4.8 million GRT in 1990 (one-third of it less than five years old) carries 90 to 95% of its gross freight on voyages that do not call in Denmark. Three-quarters of the freight is carried in liner traffic. The mercantile fleet includes many special vessels, usually built in Denmark, ranging from Arctic region freighters to environmental patrol vessels. |
