Copenhagen The Danish capital is Copenhagen, a city known to tourists for the Tivoli Pleasure Gardens and the statue of The Little Mermaid. To international businessmen, Copenhagen is known for its advanced industries and as a centre for trade and transport. Copenhagen Airport has approx. 700 arrivals and departures daily, of which about 500 are international. Denmark and Sweden have agreed to build a bridge-tunnel link to connect southern Sweden with Denmark. This link will be built near Copenhagen. In step with the international liberalization of capital movements, Copenhagen has started to develop as a financial centre for the region. A considerable educational programme has been organised in relation to the move to a market economy in Central and Eastern Europe. In 1996, Copenhagen is to be an international Culture City, and preparation for this cultural programme is well advanced. |
