Norðoyggjar (North Islands)
Norðoyggjar make up the group of the six northernmost islands of the Faroes. The population is just over 6,000 of which 5,000 live in Klaksvik on Borðoy, the second largest town of the Faroes. The other islands are Kalsoy island, Kunoy island, Viðoy island, Fugloy island and Svínoy island.

Mykines island is considered one of the most interesting bird colonies in Europe in addition to being the birthplace of one of Faroes greatest painters Mikines

Vágar Islands is the first place visitors see when arriving by air. The only international airport is situated on Vágur island. The northern part of the island has large areas of nature untouched by human habitation and is much appreciated by hikers and anglers alike.

The smaller islands include islands like Sandoy and Suðuroy islands, the latter being the southernmost island of the group.
