Booming high technology The third largest export sector is high technology. Its share is already approaching 20 per cent and growth is rapid. Moreover, a large section of other industrial branches employ Finnish high technology. During the last decade the export of high technology products has grown 27 per cent a year on average. In 1991 and 1992 Finnish high technology exports grew faster than in any other OECD country. In 1993 they totalled FIM 18,4 billion. The most important product groups are telecommunications and computer equipment, electrical devices, chemicals and instruments. Pharmaceuticals are also important. High technology accounts for nearly 10 per cent of total industrial production. |
