Education One of Finland's assets is its highly educated citizens. Good skills are provided by 21 universities and an extensive network of vocational institutes. In addition, companies offer comprehensive supplementary training. More than 40 percent of Finns of working age have completed at least secondary level schooling. Today's combination of vocational and all-round education provides a good basis for working life. Since Finnish is a rare language and not very useful in international circles, Finns have had to learn foreign languages. Some Finns actually speak Swedish as their native tongue, but today languages such as English, German and French are also commonly spoken. |
