Industrial production on the upswing
Especially during the last couple of years, industrial output has gained momentum and is growing at an impressive pace. Nearly all export companies have managed to improve their results, though some sectors of the domestic market are still slow-moving. According to estimates, industrial output in Finland grew 10 per cent in 1994. The most important sectors by far are the metal and engineering and wood-processing industries, with a combined share of some 60 per cent of total output. Next in line, although a long way behind, are the food and chemical industries.
