Umbrellas, posters, the Internet and Randburg

Umbrellas are useful as protection against rain, but here the concept means to have everything under one hat, not unlike an umbrella association. In other words, all those under one umbrella have something in common. On the Internet there are quite a number of umbrellas or umbrella pages where information is available about specific things with the links to get there.

Posters are a phenomenon of the twentieth century but probably won't be used very far into the twenty-first century. When an event or performance is soon to take place- a dance, a concert or other- where the producers need to attract people and let them know what's going on, a poster or placard is put up on a wall or a pole or at a bus stop or anywhere where people may be expected to see it. The reason is to advertise the event so that more people will attend.

A Randburg data bank web page, in most cases, is there in order to get information out to people so that they will know to meet at a certain place or how to buy specific products or services. How well the web page fulfils this role depends on how many see it.

In order to get the maximum number of people to visit every one of its web pages, Randburg has hung up posters here and there on the World Wide Web that point the way to the necessary pages. To do this Randburg has sent various key words for each and every Randburg page to over 300 search engines. In other words, these are wall posters; when anyone asks the search engine about any of these key words, the link or a poster appears on the screen. One click of the mouse later and the relevant Randburg page is instantly visible. Posters still work today but they are more and more often in the form of links widely scattered throughout the Internet.

Randburg's front page, like the front page for every country, lists fourteen sectors or service groups such as Industries, Agriculture, Tourism, and others. It is not uncommon that a business deals with three or four of these service groups. If four, the links or posters are entered in all four sectors on Randburg's front page as well as in the four sectors on the front page of each country listed in Randburg. In this way eight posters have been put up to give directions to the relevant page. Each and every new participant in Randburg is automatically listed in the New Participant Group, with a poster, for one month.

The more posters, the more observers or participants. There are therefore several umbrella pages in Randburg that carry posters. These umbrella pages may appear for each country separately. For example, every business offering tax-free products can have a poster (i.e., a link to the company's own page) on the Tax-Free home page for that country. If there are many types of products offered, there is a poster for each type.

It is easy to have an umbrella page for various types of association, e.g., of specific businesses, or businesses operating in a certain area, shopping centers, and airport terminals, to name a few. With these umbrella pages the number of posters on the Internet that provide links to purchasers is increased and therefore attract a greater number of visitors.

Keflavik International Airport is an Icelandic example of an umbrella. There are three umbrella pages listed under the terminal with poster links to Randburg. The pages are named "Hotels, Guesthouses and Restaurants," "Transportation," and "Excursions." All the numerous Icelandic participants in Randburg that fall under these divisions have posters there. The same applies to those who have not yet participated in Randburg. They will also have a poster, or more than one if their business is varied.

We at Randburg are continually finding new locations on the Internet for posters and we are also putting together new umbrellas. It is both our pleasure and our goal to continually increase the number of visitors to Randburg..
