In this constant research of the right combination of protection and comfort, 66°N has enjoyed close co-operation with the end-users that work under the harshest condition there are, the Icelandic fisherman and the members of the Icelandic Rescue Teams.

This close collaboration and direct testing of materials and solutions have helped us improve our products. For example when available materials haven't endured the quick and violent changes in the Icelandic weather, we have developed together with our suppliers new ones.

66° North are proud to say that the Icelandic people have appreciated our effort and today our products are part of the Icelandic landscape. In fact one of the "negative" part of this close relationship, is that frequently many of our customers come to our factory, either to give us good advice or discuss their opinion!

 

Contrast is a word that comes to mind easily when one thinks of Iceland. Living here has taught us to strive for balance and live in harmony with natural forces. Solutions, sucha as the use of modern technology to harness negative aspects like volcanic activity and use for heating houses and generating clean energy, are good examples.

Since 1926 we have been working in a learning process with nature. Today we see protective wear as an active tool that balances the contrast between a hostile climate and the body under all possible conditions.

66° North has been fortunate to have access to what I call the best test market in the world, having a very real situation in terms of climate, use and different user groups. Our collaboration with the Icelandic Rescue Team and extreme athletes have given us a in-depht know-how of the different climatic situations and user needs. In fact, what we felt were limits at the outset have now become our main asset.

In the last few years we have also tested our clothing on various expeditions all over the world and this experience has confirmed that the protection, duarbility and comfort levels of our clothes are excellent.
