Grill-Inn Askur, which opened for business on September 2nd,
1996, was one of the first restaurants in Iceland to serve American-style
hamburgers. Askur’s objective has always been to use only the very best
ingredients, and it is the first restaurant in Europe to list the fat content
of meat. It has also launched various other innovations, such as an open
kitchen where customers can watch meals being cooked. Askur was the first
Icelandic BBQ restaurant, serving chicken, roast lamb from the grill, lamb
cutlets, roast beef, its famous cocktail sauce, and fresh salads. At Askur, every effort is made to ensure first-class service. Quality and pleasant surroundings are our hallmarks. Brasserie is a term for an eating-place with a relaxed, informal atmosphere, where people can feel comfortable no matter how they are dressed. A brasserie is in the middle range, somewhat higher up the scale than a bistro, but still a step down from an exclusive restaurant. It is characterized by a lighter and livelier atmosphere, and often attracts more guests than expensive restaurants. In France, brasseries were and still are the meeting place of artists, who often paid for their meals by painting or decorating the premises. Brasserie is a synonym for an established, traditional eating-place with good food at reasonable prices, and good service in pleasant surroundings. We at Brasserie Askur are proud of everything we do, and we can offer the following services: A reasonably priced buffet at noon on weekdays. A menu to suit the entire family. Cheerful and attentive service. Fresh ingredients. A roast buffet for the entire family on Sunday evenings. Reasonably priced wine. Catering for large and small occasions. Have a look at our menu. In addition to our a la carte menu, Brasserie Askur offers a hot and cold buffet at noon on weekdays, along with an excellent salad bar, that is both varied and exotic. On Sunday evenings, we offer a lavish buffet featuring different roasts, where everyone can be sure to find something to his taste. We at Brasserie Askur are proud of our new wine menu. We are the first in Iceland to lower wine prices in order to accommodate the trend toward enjoying wine with meals. Our house wine, for example, is always a specially selected quality vintage costing only ISK 1790 a bottle. Another innovation is our fixed mark-up for wine. The same amount is added to every bottle, rather than a percentage of the purchase price, so our customers are never penalized for choosing a better wine from our menu. |
