Islands
Viking Boat Tours is a tourist
service that offers visitors the opportunity to observe the magical beauty
of the Westman Islands by sea. The Westman Islands has one of the largest
varieties of bird species in Iceland including puffin colonies of an estimated
6-8 million puffins. No were else in the world can such large numbers of
puffins be found in such close proximity to man. In addition we also have
the largest gannet and guillemot colonies in the world and numerous other
species of nesting.
We often see whales on our tours including orcas, dolphins and porpoises
including the most famous whale in movie history, Keiko, who lives in an
enclosed bay near the Westman Islands harbour. Keiko starred in the “Free
Willy” movies.
The spectacular cliffs and natural terrain that can be seen here amaze everyone
one who comes to Westman Islands. Our boat tours give an opportunity to
see these wonders of nature from different perspective.
We have approximately 15.000 visitors annually who join os on our boat tours,
and with each year the number increases. Those who have taken our tours

The Viking Boats
Viking: A specially designed tour boat built according to the strongest
safety regulations for the tourist industry. It has gained a good reputation
for excellent service in the Westman Islands. The boat is very comfortable
and has a passenger capacity of 50 people. It is equipped with two 360 hp
engines and capable of speed up to 22 miles per hour.
Lubba Ve 27: Seven-ton plastic fiber boat that is especially good for deep-sea
fishing and trips to the outer islands. Capable of speed up to 10 miles
per hour and passenger capacity of 15 people.
Boat boats are fully equipped with quality navigational and communication
devices along with fully functional lifesaving equipment. All crew members
are qualified and licensed for operation with a good history of safety at
sea.
Viking Boat Tours
10:30 am and 3:30 pm The Circle Tour
The tour will go around the island of Heimaey with stops at places of interest
where passengers can see the many caves, the varied bird life and observe
whales. A guide will be on board to explain the sights in Icelandic, English
and German. The trip ends by sailing into Klettshellur, (Cliff Cave), and
a musical instrument is played on board. The acoustics in the cave provide
a sensational experience. From there we reenter the harbor. The trip takes
approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Whales and Dolphins in the hole Icelandic sea area
Bus Tours
Westman Island Tours has 5 buses to offer with a total seating for 233 passengers.
We also have a 14 passenger bus that we use for smaller groups and for shuttling
people to the ferry, airport, or hotel.
A bus tour around the island of Heimaey is unforgettable. Passengers
are taken to the volcanic crater that was formed during the 1973 eruption
Where the ground is still hot and passengers can depart from the bus and
feel The volcanic heat rising from the "hot spots" near the crater. Our
visitors hear the story of the eruption and the consequences that this truly
horrendous natural disaster had on the community and the environment of
the island. Passengers can see the ruins of houses and other buildings that
were Crushed by the lava when the tour takes them past the edge of the lava
field.
