Unique Restaurant located by the south coast of Iceland. Stokkseyri, at the South coast of Iceland, offers atmosphere, fresh air and a view to the ocean, free of charge of course and same goes for the company of gentle ghosts some swear to be rooming around. But then to facts and figures: Icelandic Seafood Restaurant The menu at Fjorubordid consists of lobster sauted in the shell with butter and garlic, served in the pan along with bread and sauces, normally a mild one with estragon and a pungent vinaigrette. Not to forget the vegetable supplements of your choice. The lobster comes by weight, in portions of 250, 300 or 400 grams. For those who prefer meat, the restaurant offers Icelandic lamb. In addition, there's a well known lobstersoup on the menu, served as a starter or main dish. Finally you can have plentiful sandwiches, traditional cakes and the folly of the day. Við Fjorubordid offers special prices to groups but it heartily welcomes every one. The restaurant is open daily from noon till late evening. The local staff and the owner look forward to seeing you in Stokkseyri. By the seaside, in Icelandic; Við fjöruborðið, is a restaurant true to it's name, specializing in lobster, fresh from the ocean on the very doorstep. The lobster is served sizzling warm in the pan, with sidedishes of vegetables of your choice, suggested by the owner, who has a heart somewhat warmer than the surroundings. So she looks south and goes for Italian style peppers, Tunisian couscous, Mediterranian salads, tomatoes and greeneries, along with the ever so good grilled potatoes. This is a no nonsense place based on plain ingredients and breeze from the sea. You will find this restaurant in the fishing village Stokkseyri, on the south shore about 40 minutes drive from Reykjavík. Close to the main highway and not far from sights like the waterfall Gullfoss and the one and only Geysir, it is a place of strange beauty. Insiders clame the coast just east of Stokkseyri is worth a moment, with it's skerries, islands and lagoons. They are not people to exaggurate. |
