The Icelandic Flight Academy
is offering flight and ground instruction at all levels. The training is set up in modules starting with the PPL(A) and then the ATPL(A). The latter includes CPL(A) and IR(A). The Academy was in 1999 granted approval from the Icelandic Civil Aviation Authority to train for JAA Flight Crew Licences. This approval means that the Academy is now a Flight Training Organisation, FTO, and after graduation, students will receive a JAR-FCL licence.
The Private Pilot Licence Course, PPL(A),
is a 10 week ground school accompanied by 45 hours of flight instruction. The ground school training takes place in the evenings at our facilities at Reykjavik airport. The pre-requisites for entry are a minimum age of 16 years (17 years for the grant of the PPL(A)) and a valid I or II class medical certificate. For prices see pricelist - The US$ equals approximately 85 Icelandic Krona (rate Dec. 2002), kr. There will be some extra cost due to the exam fees and medical certification at the Civil Aviation Authority and also for some ground instruction before and after each flying lesson. The duration is variable depending on the student. As in any training course certain minimum times are required by regulations. However, some students may require slightly more time to gain the required proficiency.
The Airline Transport Pilot Licence Course, ATPL(A),
is 9 months of ground school. The ground school is a full time study and is taught in the mornings between 0810 and 1440. This ground school includes the required theory for CPL(A) and IR(A). Pre-requisites for entry are a PPL(A), first class medical and passing pre-entry exams in mathematics, physics and English. The price for this ground school is 550.000 kr (see pricelist). The flight experience required for a professional licence is 200 hours total flying hours. Part of these hours must be specific flight training for the issue of the licence and some must be instrument training.
B737 300-500 Type rating course. (Self sponsored)
Consist of 3 week ground school, 48 hours in full flight simulator and 6 take-offs and landings in the actual aircraft. This course is in co-operation with the largest airlines in Iceland. Next course set for Jan/Feb 2003
