Guesthouse Akureyri is very centrally located, where banks, shops, cinemas, restaurants, cafés, disco’s, pubs, swimming pool and the Tourist Information Centre, are all within in a five minutes walking distance.

Accommodation
Guesthouse Akureyri is a non smoking, family friendly, guesthouse, which offers a great variety of room types. There are single and double rooms available both with and without WC/shower, furthermore there are triple and quadruple rooms available but they are all without WC/shower. For the rooms without WC/shower, the facilities are just a few steps away on each floor. All rooms are equipped with a multi channel TV, and most have sink in the room.

Why Akureyri?
In the recent years Akureyri has become the culture capital of Iceland, with all its museums and where the Summer Art Fest runs from mid-June to the end of August, with art in all its form stimulating all of your senses.

If museums and arts isn’t your cup of tea then don’t worry because Akureyri has a lot more to offer. There are many nature and outdoor recreations available, hiking paths all around, swimming pools, golfing, angling, skating and skiing.

Akureyri is just the place to have as a base when exploring the northern Iceland as you have many of the amazing pearls of Iceland all around it. Just to mention a few, Hrísey Island (20 km), Vaglaskógur Wood (34 km), Grímsey Island, Godafoss Falls (40 km) and Mývatnssveit (90 km). Lets not forget the most popular tourist attraction, whale watching, which is both possible in Dalvík and Húsavík, which are towns close to Akureyri.

Akureyri gets about 180.000 tourists each year but don’t worry there is room for more. Be it spring, summer, fall or winter, you will always enjoy Akureyri, where there is never a dull moment.
