LUXURY IN SIMPLICITY - AT COUNTRY HOTEL HELLNAR

Country Hotel Hellnar - Brekkubaer
We’re in west Iceland, at the tip of Snaefellsnes peninsula, right beneath the Snaefellsjokull Glacier whose snowline is within 10 km driving distance from the hotel. We’re also close to the entrance of The Snaefellsjokull National Park (6 km), and The Park’s Visitors Center is next door to us at Hellnar.

Country Hotel Hellnar was built in 2000 and has a unique position as the first guesthouse in Iceland to be certified (in 2002) by the international certification programme GREEN GLOBE 21, which certifies sustainable tourism worldwide.

Country Hotel Hellnar was awarded the Icelandic Tourist Board’s Environmental Award in 2000.

Accommodation in non-smoking dbl rooms with private wc/shower, and rooms with shared facilities. Two lounges. Internet access. Orca whales can be spotted from the hotel off the shore from May till mid July. The dining room serves breakfast and dinner. More than 50% of our food is of organic origin. We serve wine made from organically grown grapes. Beer and soft drinks also available.

We’re open from Easter every year till October 1. Accommodation for groups availalbe in winter.

Activities: You can’t describe Iceland – you have to experience it. The landscape at Snaefellsnes peninsula is magical and will touch your heart and soul. Short and long hiking trails all around Brekkubaer. The ocean front is only 5 min walking distance from the hotel. Glacier tours to the top of Snaefellsjokull Glacier on snowmobiles or snowcats. Whale-watching tours from Olafsvik (30 min away by car). Snaefellsjokull National Park 6 km away with all it’s wonders. Horse-trekking. All tours bookable at Brekkubaer Country Hotel.

Driving directions from Reykjavik: Take road 1 to Borgarnes. Leaving Borgarnes take the second turnoff at the roundabout onto road 54. Stay on road 54 for another hour or so till you come to the junction of 54 and 574. Make a left turn onto road 574 and drive for 19 km. Make a left turn down to Hellnar. Once down the hill, make the first left turn, drive past the church and make a right turn into our driveway.

Please read our booking terms and cancellation policy:

• A booking of a room at Hotel Hellnar must be confirmed with a credit card number and a confirmation fee of IKR 5.000 per room

• Rooms booked and confirmed with a credit card number will be held till guests arrive - be that later than 18:00 p.m. on arrival day

• Guests are kindly requested to notify a late arrival

• A booking can be cancelled up to 14 days prior to arrival without cancellation fee

• Cancellations from 13-6 days prior to arrival are subject to a 50% cancellation fee

• If a room is cancelled later than that it must be paid for in full

• Should a guest that has booked a room at Hotel Hellnar fail to arrive on due date the hotel shall be entitled to charge the guest for the room

• If the guest in question has booked more than 1 night, and fails to arrive on due date, the hotel shall be entitled to charge the nights booked to the credit card used to confirm the room reservation

• Breakfast is always included in room rate – not in cottage rate

A baby cot with duvet and pillow is available for children under the age of 2, and is complimentary.

PLEASE NOTE that a 14 days right to refunding according to article 8 in Icelandic law 46/2000 about pre-sales does not apply to accommodation. A sale where a consumer has specially ordered a product or it has in one way or another been tailor made to his personal needs, i.e. by making reservations for certain dates, is immune from the right to cancel the agreement according to article 10 of the same law.

Hotel Hellnar reserves the right to make changes to the above rates without any notice, should circumstances require that.
