Trade Council of Iceland The Trade Council of Iceland helps Icelandic companies to sell their products, services, and know-how in the international marketplace. The Council has a seven-member executive board appointed by the minister of foreign affairs and comprised of business leaders from all sectors of the Icelandic economy. Information Services The Information Services department provides Icelandic exporters with information on all aspects of export-related activities. Frequently asked questions include queries on export duties, tariffs, and production standards. We also help businesses outside Iceland learn more about the country’s economy, and to initiate and conduct business with Icelandic com-panies. The department also manages the North Atlantic Solutions project and the Euro-Info Centre in Iceland. ![]() Trade Fairs As the name implies, the Trade Fairs department organises the participation of Icelandic companies in international trade fairs, and has organised national stands for a cross-section of industries at major events such as Brussels, Hanover, Warsaw, Beijing, London, Copenhagen, Buenos Aires, and Boston. At the same time, we also offer comprehensive advice and support to companies participating alone in trade fairs, and provide training for first-time exhibitors. |
![]() Market Development The Trade Council of Iceland is continually on the lookout for fresh opportunities for Icelandic companies seeking to enter new markets. In this sense, the term “new market” refers to every market, geographical area or sector demonstrating the potential for growth and development, and of interest to Icelandic companies. To help Icelandic companies entering such markets, the Trade Council provides a range of practical business information, organises and implements marketing and trade missions, and hires local marketing and sales consultants to assist them for limited periods of time. Consultancy Services The Consultancy Services department has a pool of 30 consultants who work directly with exporters towards developing their long-term export potential. As part of this initiative we offer a range of in-depth training programmes, as well as shorter seminars. Training programmes include a nine-month Export Development Programme and Venture Iceland. Publications The Trade Council of Iceland publishes a monthly newsletter, Útherji, which is distributed to the majority of Icelandic businesses. We also produce a series of booklets containing a range of practical advice sales, marketing, and logistics for use by businessmen and business students. Other publications include Iceland Business, an English-language magazine for international distribution featuring different sectors of the Icelandic economy, and the Iceland Export Directory, an annual publication containing background information and contact details on Icelandic export companies. |
