| Landmannalaugar - the pearl of the central highlands Landmannalaugar is situated in the central highlands of Iceland. We pass by Hekla volcano before we arrive at the interior route, across lava fields, black ash and scoria deserts. Landmannalaugar is an area of great contrasts with black ridges and colourful mountains of green, red, yellow and orange. The fresh air with all the untouched nature, rivers, craters, high mountains and massive lava fields give you the feeling of something very special. We recommend you top the day off with a nice hot bath in a natural pool. Duration of the trip in the summer time is one day and two days in the winter time since it is more difficult to get there because of the snow in the winter time. In the summer time it is possible to go to Landmannalaugar in a comfortable Land Cruiser on 35” tyres or Super Jeep on 38” tyres. In the winter time it is only possible to go there on Super Jeeps because of the snow and you sleep in a hut over the night. A chef goes with you in the winter time. Starting point is from Reykjavik and ending point is in Reykjavik.
