North Ice Iceland

The common name of NorthIce products is NorthTaste. At the moment we are producing three types of NorthTaste, under the specific names LobsterTaste, ShrimpTaste and PollockTaste.

The name Taste is selected to emphasize that it is not a conventional extract or flavour, made by mixing different kinds of spices, oils, flavours, extracts etc. to imitate the flavour of the respective species.
The only ingredient of ShrimpTaste for instance is shrimp. Thus the NorthTaste product has the flavour, odour and similar colour as the respective species. If it is used as an ingredient in ready-made dishes the only marking needed is stating the name of the species in question. There are no E-numbers needed.

The aim of NorthIce is to produce a high quality seafood taste. A new unique enzymatic process, utilizing enzymes from the fish itself, is used to extract the flavour from fresh seafood. This is done under extremely mild conditions with minimum heat treatment that preserves the natural taste of the seafood. No artificial additives are used, giving the product the highest purity and natural qualities. By using this method NorthIce preserves the natural taste of the seafood. NorthIce has in Iceland access to high quality raw material from the ocean.
The management of NorthIce has a long experience and knowledge in the Icelandic seafood industry.

NorthTaste is an all-natural product with no additives of any kind. This gives food and foodservice manufacturers an excellent opportunity and/or freedom to add any spices, salt, flavours etc. It is produced with a patent pending method using only the species in question as ingredient.

One of Denmark's leading chefs, Mr. Erwin Lauterbach, the founder and owner of the famous Restaurant Saison in Hellerup, Copnehagen, has made the following statement. "For those who don't want to spend the time and resources to make their own fish- and shellfish broth, the natural and distinct NorthTaste is the best alternative. Welcome to the world of NorthTaste."
