and Development Agency - TOURISM Grindavík ![]() Leaving Reykjanes, the road turns east towards the cliffs at Stađarberg. As it passes one of the regionšs many salmon farms, a narrow path forks off to the right towards the shore and Brimketill, a strange formation of rock and sea well worth a visit. Returning the main road, the route lies to Grindavík, passing the greens and fairways of Húsatoftir. Today the town's golf course, Húsatoftir was for centuries a vital link in the region's communications, as the point at which the Prestastígur and Árnastígur trails converge. Visitors to Grindavík can hardly fail to be impressed with the skill of local seamen as they negotiate the tight run into the town's harbour. In terms of facilities, Grindavík also has much to offer, including a new outdoor swimming pool, campsite, guesthouses, a choice of fine restaurants, and horse rental. ![]() Grindavík also marks an important crossroads on any visit to Reykjanes. To the north lie the warm, soothing waters, hotel, restaurant and bath houses of the incomparable Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland's greatest tourist attractions, while to the east the road follows the North Atlantic breakers across tortured lava fields towards the hot springs of Krísuvík.
