The company has grown rapidly with the goal in mind to strengthen its foundations by participation in many different aspects of the fishing industry. Samherji hf. operates five freezer trawlers, four purse seiners in Iceland and two trawlers. They fish both within and outside Icelandic territorial waters. The composition of the fishing fleet changes to some extent from one year to another, as there is strong emphasis on technical development and economy of operation. The key to the company's success is the fact that it is involved in all stages of the process, from beginning to end; i.e. fishing, processing and sales.
