Sjavaridjan Rifi Ltd., which was founded in 1994, runs a seafood processing plant at Hafnargata 8, in Rif. The company's aim is to prepare products using first-class raw material to meet customers' requirements concerning freshness and quality. The plant has developed steadily and now specialises in cod steaks and by-products, which are either packed in foam boxes and flown abroad fresh or frozen for transport by sea. The company sells its products to the USA, Britain, France and Belgium, with a small volume of sales within Iceland. Its sales agents are The Union of Icelandic Fish Producers and Tros Ltd of Sandgerdi.

The family owns two boats which provide the plant with most of its raw material.

They are:

  • Hamar SH 224, 235 t, built in England in 1964.
  • Litli Hamar SH 222, 11 t, built in 1988.

The processing plant provides employment for 18 annual full-time equivalent positions, and the fishing operations 12.

Sjavaridjan Rifi Ltd is owned by Kristinn Jon Fridthjofsson, his wife Thorbjörg Alexandersdottir and their children Erlu, Kristjonu, Bergthoru, Halldors og Alexanders. The General manager is Kristinn Jón Friðjþjófsson er framkvæmdastjóri fyrirtækisins og Guðrún Gísladóttir is the proccess manager.
