SKIPATAEKNI was founded in 1974 and is today the oldest company in Iceland in the field of naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy.

SKIPATAEKNI is an independent company owned by Mr. Bárður Hafsteinsson, Naval Architect and his family.

SKIPATAEKNI has experience in the design of a wide variety of ship types, ranging from small tugs to passenger ferries.

The company’s main body of experience lies, however, in the design of fishing vessels. In this field the company has designed a large number of ships, from small inshore vessels to deep sea factory trawlers.

New designs are developed to most stringent requirements of owner and crew, resulting in optimum solutions in terms of catch handling and working conditions of each vessel.

It is our goal to achieve the best solution for each design to maximise the profitability of the vessel.
