Snorri Sea Tours

Whale Watching in Dalvík - North Iceland
Departure is from the Sjoferdir pier in Dalvík harbour. We will cruise towards the island Hrísey or village Grenivík depending on the tour involved. Course is then set out Eyjafjörður to known whaling grounds, with plenty of prior experience for guidance. There are no 2 tours exactly the same, even if carried out within few hours of each other, as the nature has to be constantly read to locate the different species.

Pending on weather and conditions of the sea, the route will be taken close to Olafsfjardarmuli, the waterfall Migandi and the folktale curiosity of Hálfdánarhurð. The return leg takes us through the same landmarks as the outbound one. Obviously one can never foretell which species will be spotted, but Sjóferðir´s trips in the summer of 2004 yielded 96,5% results, and passengers will be informed at the beginning of each trip, which species are likely to be seen by reference to the last trips made. Coffee and refreshments is available during the tour.

Whale species we expect to see are Humpbacks (Megaptera noveangliae), Minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata), Dolphins (Phocoena phocoena), Killer whales (Orcinus orca) as well as some seals on the beaches.

Sea angling: (Duration 3hours)
