The Company, SR-mjöl hf SR-mjöl specialises in the marketing of fishmeal and fish oil. The Company has a relatively long history and is today the largest exporter of fishmeal and fish oil from Iceland. The Company sells the production for several Icelandic fishmeal plants, five of which are owned and run by its parent company, Síldarvinnslan hf. The Products During recent years the Company has exported 100 -150.000 tonnes of fishmeal and approximately 50.000 tonnes of fish oil per annum. The products are used primarily in feed for aquaculture, for poultry feeds and pet foods. The principal markets are in Europe and North America. Quality and traceability The plants for which SR-mjöl is marketing, are all under supervision of the Icelandic State Inspectorate of Fisheries, and they all operate a HACCP quality assurance programme. SR-mjöl is accreditated according to the COCERAL and GAFTA programmes of quality assurance. Traceability of our products is a priority, so that fishmeal and fish oil can always be traced back to the waters where the fish was caught. Sustainability The fish stock which is primarily utilised for meal and oil production in Iceland is capelin (Mallotus villosus).
