Iceland has become a popular whale-watching destination. Regular sightings from whale-watching boats in Iceland include the infamous Killer whale orcas, humpback whales, pilot whales, minke whales, white beaked dolphins and harbor porpoises, not to forget sperm, fin and blue whales.

As a industry the whale watching business has grown enormously in just over 10 years and will presumably grow even bigger. In 1991 about 100 people where registered as boat going whale watchers, in 2003 they where around 65.000.
