Hotel Varmahlid is located by Route 1 in Varmahlid, in the heart of Skagafjordur. It is a comfortable, small hotel, with 19 rooms. All the rooms have private facilities with a shower. they are also equipped with a TV, a hairdrier and a telephone. The hotel offers a variety of rooms: single-, double-, triple- and a family room where up to 5 people can sleep.

The hotel restaurant offers an a la carte menu from June through August, as well as a menu for groups. For lunch we offer light meals or a buffet. Over the winter months you need to order any meal in advance. Hotel Varmahlid is involved in a project called The Food Chest Skagafjordur, which concentrates on local cuisine from the Skagafjörður region . Those dishes are marked whith a special logo.

Hotel Varmahlid is located in a flourishing agricultural area, where the Icelandic horse has been treasured for centuries. The fjord Skagafjordur is known for its wide open space surrounded by beautiful mountains. There are many things one can do in Skagafjordur. Visit the Glaumbaer museum and enjoy homemade goods at Ashus cafe. For those interested in the Icelandic horse, there are regular horse shows as well as horse rentals near the hotel. The adventuresome can experience river rafting, or take on an unforgettable trip to Drangey island.

In Varmahlid there is a trail leading to Reykjarholl hill where the hiker is rewarded with a great view over Skagafjordur. Last but not the least, enjoy the hot swimming pool in Varmahlid.
