You can enjoy simple refreshments or an elaborate meal in the restaurant in Videyjarstofa, one of the oldest buildings in the country. The second oldest church in Iceland is also located here. It is a popular venue for weddings, and Sunday services are well attended in summer.
We are proud of Videyjarstofa's uniqueness. There is no other restaurant like it. The building itself is a work of art, designed by N. Eigtved, the best-known master of the Danish rococo. It contains works by many Icelandic artists and other valuable objects. In this pleasant atmosphere, everyone can enjoy the famous Viking cuisine – from the past and the present.

Videy is famous for its social gatherings. Lavish banquets and weddings were held in the cloister in medieval times, and written accounts still exist of some of the famous parties that took place in Videyjarstofa in the 19th century. This tradition of hospitality is still maintained today.

The loft of Videyjarstofa is an impressive restaurant venue. It can seat 150 people for meals or 250 standing for cocktails. We can provide suggestions for your event by telephone. The social gatherings we have hosted include meetings, company parties, wedding and baptismal receptions, birthday celebrations, various kinds of receptions, cocktail parties and our famous Christmas buffet.
