The company Alytaus Textile was founded in 1969 in Alytus. It is 100 km away
from Vilnius and 65 km from Kaunas.
The company consists of three departments: spinning, weaving and finishing, as well as necessary services. At present
4000 persons work in the company.
Total annual production capacity is equal to 8000 tons cotton OE yarns, 4000 tons ring spun yarns, 56,000,000 metres of
grey fabrics and 60,000,000 metres of finished fabrics.
The company produces ring spun carded and combed yarns Nm 20-112, OE yarns Nm 15.8-50 and fabrics 100-170 cm width,
in 100% cotton, cotton-polyester, rayon-polyester and cotton-flax blends.
The spinning department is equipped with 69,120 spindles and with 28,800 spinning heads.
The weaving department is equipped with 1804 looms, part of which are rapier looms, air jet weaving and projectile
weaving looms.
The finishing department is equipped with 193 technological ranges and equipment which bleaches, mercerizes, dyes and
gives various finishing to fabrics.
Production assortment: cotton and blended yarns and fabrics, including sheeting, calico, flannel, linen, fabrics for
technical use, lining, pockets, raincoats, jackets, trousers and other clothes.
Raw cotton is received from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and polyester from Belarussia.
About 60% of the company1s production is sold to the West, 15% to Russia, Belarussia, Ukraine and other ex-USSR countries,
whilst 25% is sold in the local market in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
