| The closed joint-stock trading
company Animus was founded on 6 March 1992, and is registered in Kaunas. It has a staff of
44, all of whom are highly qualified specialists with many years’ job experience. The
company is equipped with computers and other modern means of communication.
In January 1996, the Ministry of Communications issued licences permitting the company to engage in cargo forwarding and railway freight agency activities. Contracts with the railway authorities in Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus and the Donetsk region and close contacts with other forwarders and the MPC firm GVC in the Russian Federation on the supervision and search for carriage in the CIS countries, enable us to deliver our customers’ cargoes inexpensively and on time. The company has set up an affiliate in Klaipeda and has an office in Vilnius in order to expand its activities. Other important activities of the company are connected with wood processing and sales in Western Europe. A business plan has been prepared for this purpose, equipment is being bought and the construction of a production workshop in Kaunas for glued wooden panels is being prepared. The company are also engaged in trading oil products, food, fabrics and clothing. Animus is a founder of the Lithuanian-Ukrainian joint venture Azovlitas (see below for further details). The company’s authorised capital is LTL 98 500 in the form of private capital stock. The 1996 turnover was LTL 13 312 189 and profits amounted to LTL 1 894 744.
