Established in 1952 the Baltija Shipyard has been carrying on the 400-year old tradition of shipbuilding in Klaipeda, which is the only port in Lithuania. The port, which does not freeze over, offers favourable conditions both for navigation and for the shipbuilding industry. Baltija is one of the largest up-to-date industrial enterprises in Lithuania and the only shipbuilding yard in the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), that supplies fleets and marine companies world-wide. Having available full range of production fields such as hull assembly, mechanical assembly and outfitting as well as multipurpose facilities, Baltija offers different type new buildings: pontoons and barges, trawlers and fish-processing vessels, floating docks and river-going ferries, dry cargo ships and container carriers with dimensions of up to L ¥ B= 115 ¥ 16.5 m. The firm's shipbuilding experience has already been appreciated by our clients in: Cuba, Estonia, Germany, France, Finland, Indonesia, Iceland, Kazachstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mozambique, The Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Vietnam and Yugoslavia. Baltija offers a wide range of non-shipbuilding commodities and services. Approximately 20% of the yard's total programme is dedicated to ship-repair and conversion projects. Over 300 vessels have been dry-docked, repaired and converted since the establishment of the shipyard. A considerable part of the yard's order book is occupied with steel-construction and engineering projects in the field of machining and assembly. |
