Baltai ir KO was established by Mr Rimantas Bendorious and Mr Juozas Simkevicius in 1991 and unifies 4 subsidiaries employing 450 people. The company itself is involved in the wholesaling of petroleum products, operates a network of petrol stations which are being further developed, and provides financial services. The largest subsidiary is Plunges Saltis which is engaged in the processing and wholesaling of smoked, salted and frozen fish, and also provides catering services. Plunges Saltis also owns foodstores, a fish restaurant, bonded warehouses, industrial coldstores with a capacity of 1200 tons, and provides storage services. In turn, the company owns Baltu Vikingas, operator of the factory trawler Mikelbaka, supplying frozen redfish and mackerel produced on board not only to the local market, but also exporting it to Japan, Great Britain, Greece, Israel and Russia. AB Plateliai is the second largest subsidiary of the Baltai ir KO group. Situated in Zemaitija National Park, the company produces butter, sour cream, different types of cheeses of original taste and other dairy products produced from the fresh milk collected from the region. AB LodÏa is the third company belonging to the Baltai ir KO group. It specialises in building, reconstruction and decoration. The company also has a branch that builds wooden houses and other wooden articles. Baltai ir KO, together with Mrs V. Bendoriene, Mrs J. Simkeviciene and Mrs M. Leliugiene are co-founders of Cyrulis, a charitable foundation for child care and support. |
