The joint-stock company Baltijos degalu prekyba has been in operation for six years. It began as a small enterprise under a different name, and supplied oil products only to customers in the Klaipeda district. The company's rapid development and the rise in its turnover and profits were due mainly to the skill and energy of its personnel. All profits were ploughed back into the company. The company's policy is to develop the wholesale trade in oil products. Its activities now span a wide geographical area: it has five large branches in the main cities of Lithuania and a representation in Kaliningrad. We provide services not only to clients in Lithuania, but also in the Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, and the Kaliningrad district of Russia, and we have ties with Western partners in connection with the export of Russian oil products through Lithuania. The company provides fuel and oil services to vessel in the ports of Klaipeda and Kaliningrad. At present, the company is trying to establish itself in the oil market in the Ukraine and Kaliningrad district, where there is much free trading space. Turnover in 1996 was LTL 58 million; this year the plan is to increase this by 23%. The company works with the US company MOGIL, six Russian oil-processing enterprises and the Lithuanian company Mazeikiu nafta. Company staff are also looking for opportunities to participate in the Lithuanian oil-extracting industry. |
