AB Biosinteze was founded in 1970. The technology of enzyme production and the equipment for the technology and strains of enzymes were bought from the French companies Rapidase and Nordon. The company produces enzyme preparations and supplements for animal fodder -- premixes. The company is based in the western part of Vilnius, in the industrial district of Aukstieji Paneriai and occupies a 65,100 m2 site, 5130 m2 of which are still free and can be used for buildings and development of production. Approximately 910 tonnes of enzyme preparations can be produced per year for agricultural veterinary and medical use, and for brewing and the processing of skins and hides. The plant also produces 2500-7000 tonnes of pre-mixes with vitamins, micro-elements and enzymes for domestic animal and poultry fodder. The company buys the raw materials (vitamins, micro-elements, etc.) from western firms and some part of them from CIS countries. The main market for the company's production is the CIS (32%) and the Baltic countries (64%). About 4% of production is sold to Italy and Poland. The company is looking for new markets and for western partners to establish a joint-stock venture. The company owns a rest-house 60 km from Vilnius, in Dzukija National Park, near the Via Baltica international road. The General Director of the company is Ignas Kiudulas, who is a member of the Lithuanian Association of Industry, the Lithuanian Association of Grain Processing, the International Poultry Association and the Rotary Club. |
