Dvarcioniu Keramika represents the Lithuanian ceramic sector. It is a leading producer of a wide range of ceramic products for finishing and decoration in the Baltic countries. The company was set up in 1888. Up to 1974 the main production was bricks made from the local clay. In 1974 the company started production of ceramic tiles using up-to date equipment. The Lithuanian-Italian joint venture Dvarcioniu Keramika was founded jointly in April 1994 by the Lithuanian Stock company Dvarcionys and an Italian company. At the moment company employs 350 people and produces the following ceramic products:
About 70% of total sales are made on the Lithuanian market and 30% are exported to Germany, Poland, Belgium, Russia, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, Spain and other countries. In time, exports are expected to increase by 50%. Last year, investments of about USD 10 million were earmarked for the modernisation and expansion of the plant. The new ceramic wall and floor tile production line is to be put into operation in the first quarter of 1997. All equipment for the new line, from body preparation to packaging was supplied by the Italian company Nassetti Ettore S.p.A. The annual capacity of the line is 1,300,000 m2 of wall and floor tiles. A long tradition in ceramics with modern machinery and advanced technology as well as low cost manpower enable Dvarcioniu Keramika to comply with the needs of the customers and offer a high quality product at a favourable price. |
