AB Dobilas is one of the most modern clothes-making enterprises in Lithuania, and is well known for the high quality of their products. Garments made by Dobilas have been sold by Marks & Spencer, NEXT, Lindex, KappAhl and other shops abroad under labels including Daniel Hechter, Piretta, St. Jacques, Avenue and others.
The company was established in 1940 as a continuation of the enterprise ORFA, which was founded in 1925. Its traditional product range consists of outdoor wear for men and women: coats, raincoats and jackets. The firm produces more than 240,000 garments a year and employs a staff of over 700. In 1982, the production departments acquired new premises for sewing and cutting, and in 1989, under a contract with Juki of Japan, all cutting and sewing equipment was replaced by new equipment from Juki and Gerber. A new automatic cutting system from Gerber was installed in the cutting department, while in the sewing departments, automatic and semi-automatic machines from Juki and ready-made garment-moving systems from Gerber were set up. The following were also supplied under the contract:
