The trading house Edelveisas grew out of a co-operative society that was established in March 1989 and was later re-registered as a closed joint-stock company. Our share capital is LTL 2,775,100, and annual turnover in 1996 was LTL 33,069,274. The company employs a staff of 130. We have 8 affiliates in Lithuania and 2 affiliates and 6 joint companies in the CIS countries.
The main activities of the company are:
- Mushroom- and berry-picking in Lithuania, the import of these products from the CIS countries, their processing and export to Western Europe. Chanterelles, boletus, blueberries, red bilberries and cranberries are processed according to demand, i.e. the product can be delivered fresh, frozen, dried or salted. Production complies with European quality and sanitary standards. Packaging is adapted to the needs of delivery. The berries and mushrooms are frozen in a shock-freezing tunnel with a capacity of up to 1 tonne per hour. Products are stored in freezers with a capacity of 1000 tonnes. During the production season, the company processed over 1000 tonnes of mushrooms and 1000 tonnes of berries.
- Production of snail-meat. The snails are collected in Lithuania, the Ukraine
and Belarus, and are frozen and exported.
- Investments in new production technology and establishing contacts
with countries in both Eastern and Western Europe. Through this, the company increases its annual turnover by 20-25%. We make donations to various charity organizations and are the main sponsor of Lithuania's Olympic yachting sports.
- Ownership of a vehicle garage and modern IVECO SPA vehicles with refrigerators which guarantee the safe delivery of products to various countries in Europe.
- International cargo deliveries.
- Sales, services and repairs to IVECO vehicles under an agreement with IVECO SPA signed in 1996. The company is an official IVECO representative.
- The import and wholesale of fruit and vegetables from all over the world. The products are stored in special facilities (e.g. banana aeration chambers) and are delivered fresh to customers. Part of the products are re-exported to the CIS countries.
- Wholesale of various medicines and medications.
- Operation of warehouses at customs posts: the company has 3000 m2 of closed warehouse storage space where goods can be reloaded, processed and stored.
