In 1969 a new plant was built that was privatised and became a joint-stock company in 1992. An appropriate base has been created for transportation and storage of frozen endocrinological raw material. Gradually, the company has become one of the biggest producers of endocrinological preparations in the former USSR. One-third of the insulin and heparin markets and all demand for hypophysis medical forms in the former USSR were supplied by Endokrininiai preparatai.

At present the firm has 400 employees engaged in scientific research, production, quality control and commerce. Because of changes in the economic system within the country, the company became not only manufacturing-oriented but market-oriented as well. It develops, manufactures and distributes various kinds of pharmaceutical preparations. Heparin, insulin, human growth hormone, calcitonin and other substances are extracted from animal raw material. The company's products include preparations for the treatment of diabetes, cardio-vascular and obstetric-gynaecological diseases, preparations for promoting growth and regulating metabolism, eye-drops and other products. Bioactive materials are extracted, standardized and sold as chemicals and in finished forms.
