Akmene District
The district is situated in the Northwestern part of Siauliai County,
along the border with Latvia. The administrative seat is in Naujoji Akmene.

The County belongs to the Dzukija ethnographical region, which borders
on Poland and Belarus, with the other Lithuanian counties of Vilnius,

Birzai Forest Enterprise (BFE) is located in the very northern part of
Lithuania. The BFE forests are located in two administrative regions,
Birzai and Pasvalys, with a total area 273,000 ha. BFE manages 35,000
ha of state forests and 24,000 ha of private forest or forest expected
to become private.

Ignalina Nuclear Power
Plant
The Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, a state enterprise, now reports to the
Ministry of National Economy. It is the largest state enterprise in the

Kaunas Power Station
Built in 1930, the Petrasiunai Power Station is one of the oldest power
stations in the country still in operation. The building of the new station
on the east side of the city was begun in 1971. In December 1976 it reached
its design capacity of 170 MW.

Kaunas Water Company
The company is in the process of transition from an old state enterprise
into a business and service-oriented water-management company focussing
on the environmental care, technical improvement and customer service.

Kelme District
Kelme district has an area of 1705 km3 with 43,400 inhabitants. It is
situated in the eastern part of Lower Lithuania by the international highway
that connects Kaliningrad, Riga and St Petersburg.

Klaipeda City
The great treasures of Klaipeda include the Giruliai wood, parks, almost
10 km of beautiful sand beaches.

Klaipeda County
Klaipeda County is the only coastal county in Lithuania. It consists of
the city municipalities of Klaipeda, Neringa and Palanga, and the regional
municipalities of Klaipeda, Silute, Kretinga and Skuodas.

Klaipeda District
Gargzdai, which is 17 km from Klaipeda, is the municipal centre. The western
part of the region lies within the coastal lowlands, while the eastern

situated in the western part of the country, only 21 km from the port
of Klaipeda and 12 km from the airport and resort town of Palanga.

The District comprises 15 municipalities, with its administrative centre
in the town of Lazdijai, which is 7 km from the Polish border.

The Legal Information Centre at the Ministry of Justice was established
in 1993. It is a non-profit organization.

Under the Act cash-based privatisation of the remaining state and municipal
property is to take place at market prices. Local and foreign investors

Marijampole County is situated in the southwestern part of the country

Kretuonas Lake is a famous nesting area for rare Lithuanian birds. The

the former Russian capital St Petersburg with Talin, Riga, Koningsberg
and other Western European cities.

Telsiai County
There are a lot of rivers and streams in the county of Telsiai and a great
number of picturesque lakes. One third of the territory is covered by
forests.

Trakai District
There are more than 200 cultural landmarks in the entire district. The
following are some of the most significant attractions: the Island Castle
of Old Trakai, which served as the second capital of the Grand Duchy of
Lithuania and was the home of the Grand Duke Vytautas Magnus.

of the Trakai Administrative Region covers nearly 59,000 ha, and the forest

This county lies in the north-eastern part of Lithuania, and consists
