The joint-stock company Jonavos grudai (Jonava Grain) was given this name in 1995. It consists of four divisions, each with its own history. The main subdivision, a grain elevator with a capacity of 100,000 tons, was built in Jonava in 1974. It has a grain drying room and equipment for gathering in and cleaning crops. The condition of the grain is kept under constant supervision, so that it can be kept safely for up to 6 years. The company are served by a railway, and automatic loading and unloading of grain is possible (up to 20 vans in 24 hours).  Elevator drying room.
Only 35 km from Jonava, in the town Ukmerge, there are granaries with a capacity of 6000 tons, a drying room, a combined roughage shop and the company's shop. The company bought a mill in the town of Kybartai,140 km from Jonava, in 1996. Wheat flour is made there, and there is also a small bakery where white bread and rolls are made. The building is old and the equipment is not up-to-date; hence, productivity and quality do not fully comply with modern requirements. Nevertheless, Kybartai, which is near the border with Russia, is a strategic spot for the sale of the company's production in the free economic zone. Jonava, where the company has its headquarters, is in the centre of the country, which makes it easy to transport grain from all parts of the country. The company plans to establish customs-post granaries in the elevator in Jonava. It is looking for investment to introduce and implement new technologies.
