The initiator of the company's foundation and its first manager (1921-40) was Mr Gustavas Feterauskas (1874-1944), the eminent Lithuanian statesman and cultural worker. In 1940 Lithuania was occupied and incorporated in the Soviet Union. Grosstrach and Ingosstrach subsidiaries started their activities in Lithuania.

After the restoration of the independence of Lithuania (on 11th March, 1990) the company became an independent institution.

In a few years the company has reached the top among insurance companies in Lithuania and the Baltic States as well. The company does not intend to lose its leadership to young, impetous rivals. The company provides and, we hope, will continue to provide, reliable insurance for various strata of society.

The market economy has changed attitudes toward many things in Lithuania. The attitude toward insurance is also expected to change, because at present the individual himself is forced to take care of and protect his own and his family's life, health and property.

The company was capable of adapting to the requirements of the present and expanding and developing insurance services. A net of 50 branches all over Lithuania, a large team of agents and accumulated reserves currently secure the immediate implementation of liabilities for all insured persons.

The market share of the company in Lithuania (in respect of premium income) amounts to 60% while the other 30 insurance companies account for 40%.

Respectively the ratio of disbursements makes 82% and 18%. Authorized capital of the company is USD 3.5 million. Reserves amount to USD 30 million.
