The enterprise is in northwest Lithuania in the town of Mazeikiai. Two dairies in the towns of Akmene and Skuodas also belong to the firm. At the beginning, the firm could process 75 tons of milk a day. During the last 25 years, it has been constantly expanding and can now process up to 500 tons of milk a day in Mazeikiai alone. At present there are 700 people working there.

The firm has over 2500 shareholders.

Important economic and financial problems are resolved by the Board, which consists of 12 persons, six of them representing the employees and six the farmers. Administration is handled by managers chosen and hired by the Board: a general manger, manager, technical manager and accountant general.

Mazeikiu pienine processes 100,000 tons of milk a year. Milk is bought from districts in Lithuania. Production is then shipped in 140 company-owned vechicles. The annual profit amounts is up to USD 22 million.

Production is divided into two groups:

1. For the local market, a wide assortment including pasteurised milk, sour cream, curd products and various desserts, more than 30 types in all.
2. For the local market and for export.

The firm produces 5000 tons of skim milk powder and 3000 tons of butter a year; 80% of the skim milk powder is sold to Japan, the rest to Denmark, Holland and France. Butter is exported to France, Holland, Germany but the greater part to Russia.

Mazeikiu pienine sells its products in more than 1100 shops in Lithuania. In 1996 the company opened an office in Vilnius for the purpose of strengthening the trading relations with the shops in the centre of Lithuania.

All production is strictly controlled. Only fresh products of the highest quality are sold to consumers. As the company wants to maintain and strengthen its position in the Lithuanian milk industry, it allots about USD 0.5 million from profits every year for new investments.

All milk is processed and packed with equipment such as Alfa-Laval separators with a capacity of 25 t/h. The milk is condensed with a GEA Wiegand evaporator, dried with a VRA-4 dryer. Pasteurizators PA 5PB and FBFC-1 machine with a capacity of 2.5 t/h is used to make butter.

Liquid milk products are packed with Finpack automatic machines processing 3 t/h.

Thick products are packed using Italian ILPRA automatic machines.

We produce vapour in our own boiler-housewith new Finnish Ahlstron vapour boilers with a capacity of 6 t/h each.
