Situated in Kaunas, Pakaita was founded in 1945, but only became a private company in 1992, with an authorized capital of USD 1,050,000. The firm consists of a knitting department and a sewing department, and employs 165 people. Our knitting department is equipped with machinery from well-known foreign manufacturers such as Karl Mayer, Monarch, Jumberca, Mayer & Cie and Multiripp knitting machines to produce knitted material and curtain fabrics. We use polyester yarns for the curtains, and can produce up to 100,000 metres per month. For our knitted materials we use yarns and fibres of various line densities: textured and flat polyester, polyamide, polyurethane, viscose, acetate, cotton and also blends of these types. We can produce up to 80 tonnes of these fabrics each month. Our sewing department produces light outdoor garments, sportswear for adults and children, and also drapery, bedspreads and curtains. Production capacity is c. 15,000 articles per month. About 52% of production is exported, 65% of exports going to former Soviet countries, 28% to Latvia and Estonia and 10% to the EU. The remainder, 48% of production, is sold in Lithuania.
