Palanga is a resort town which is situated by the Baltic Sea in the northwest part of Lithuania. Its population is 20,000. People started to settle in this area form the second to third century BC. In the 12th and 13th centuries Palanga was a well-known trading centre by the sea, a port on the Hansa merchants' route.

Now Palanga is a resort town with beautiful sand beaches (18 km long and in some places about 300 m wide), dunes and an unspoilt natural environment. Amber has been found here since the oldest times. A great number of amber craftsmen live here. There is a unique Amber Musuem and the Count Tiskevicius Park in Palanga.

Palanga has its own airport where planes leave for Hamburg, Kristianstadt, Tallin, Moscow, Berlin, Hanover, Munster, Frankfurt and Vilnius.

Klaipeda is a large seaport only 25 km away from Palanga. One can reach Kiel by ferry from Klaipeda.

Palanga has three sanatoriums and more than 100 holiday houses, guesthouses and hotels. People are welcome not only to come to rest but also to get treatment for heart and blood-vessel disorders, the nervous system, the digestive system, bones and muscles, and gynaecological diseases (mud, electric, water treatment, etc.).

Disabled people can come for a rest and treatment here. Palanga has two closed and one open-air swimming pool with heated sea water. Palanga is also the residence of the President and the Government of Lithuania. International conferences, meetings and seminars are held in the town. The resort of Palanga is in the process of development; that is why partnership with foreign firms and foreign investment are welcome.
