The company traces its origin to the year 1867. The enterprise changed its nature many times during this time, but the production of metallic articles has always been a characteristic feature. Pergales koncernas is a well-known company today, with many skilled specialists and a good production basis. The enterprise is situated in Kaunas in a very convenient place, close to main railway and highway lines. It has been a joint-stock company since 1994. Around 500 workers are employed. The enterprise occupies an area of 5.8 ha, of which buildings cover 2.6 ha. There are blocks for the sectors of mechanical treatment, assembling, forging, heat treatment, welding, galvanic coating, tool making, painting and wood treatment. There are also departments of technology and design. The machinery stock consists of more than 300 machines for metal machining, making it possible to machine large-size parts, e.g., to turn parts with a diameter up to 3 m and length up to 10 m, to grind parts with a diameter up to 0.5 m and length up to 3 m, and to mill surfaces with sizes up to 2 m wide and 6 m long. Pergales koncernas is specialized in machine building, especially of ship mechanisms, control-pitch ship screws, transverse ship thrusters and auxiliary ship thrusters. A significant part of the enterprise's production consists of containers with a volumetric capacity of 5-43 m3 and press-containers with volumetric capacity of 2-26 m3 destined for transportation of waste or dry substances. They correspond to Western standards. Popular products of the company are heating elements and freezing systems, especially dismountable plate heat exchangers. Also produced are combined central-heating boilers and kitchen ranges, water heaters, chimneys and hermetic freon compressors, for freezing equipment. The company manufactures rotary cultivators for soil tillage and flax-fibre hydraulic presses. Our good production basis for tooth-wheels and springs permits us to produce cylindrical tooth-wheels with spiral or rectilinear teeth and diameter up to 1.5 m, modules up to m=20 and bevel gears with spiral teeth and diameter up to 0.8 m. A significant part of production is exported to Western countries. Most of the company's products are designed by its own design department, which is able to create mechanisms according to the customer's wishes. Pergales koncernas is ready for co-operation with foreign partners. We are also prepared to consider joint ventures, and welcome orders for our products or for separate assemblies or spare parts.
