The company UAB Svencioniu Vaistazoles (Medicinal Herbs) has a long history and tradition. The factory was established in 1883. At first it was only a pharmacy with a small rate of production. As Lithuania has old traditions in the use of medicinal herbs, it was soon developed into a processing factory, which made medicinal preparations out of dried herbs and exported herbs to various countries. At present, the factory produces medicinal herbal mixtures and packages certain types of herbs. The raw material is obtained by the company itself, using a network of stations all over the country which help to organize growing and purchasing. The company buys more than 100 kinds of herbs and processes 300-500 tons each year. It also produces 85 types of herbal tea. Packing procedures conform to international standards. New facilities are currently being built for the development and expansion of production, and the company is seeking partners in the production business. The company has a staff of 100, ten of whom are pharmacy specialists. Production is sold both in Lithuania and abroad: in the other Baltic republics, Belarus, the Ukraine and Russia. The company is seeking opportunities to sell its production in Western countries. |
