The knitwear factory Verpstas was established in 1926. In 1992 it was re-organized and became a joint-stock company. Now the company employs a staff of nearly 500. Private shareholders own 74% of the capital, the state the remaining 26%. The main AB Verpstas enterprise is located in the very centre of Siauliai. There is also an affiliate in the town or Radviliskis, 15 km away. Our production consists mainly of outerwear for both children and adults: jackets, jumpers, dresses, suits, knitted costumes, skirts and slacks for women and girls, and jackets, pullovers and sweaters for men and boys. The clothing is made of various types of yarn: wool, cotton, flax, polyacrylnitrilic and half-woollen thread. We also use various combinations of thread. The yarn is bought in Lithuania, the CIS and Western countries. We make 500,000 garments a year. Products are sold in Lithuania (10%), Western Europe (80%) and Latvia, Estonia and the CIS (10%). The company meet requests from various foreign firms and make clothes to order. We have customers and partners in Denmark, Germany, Sweden, France, Italy, Israel, Belgium and Estonia. Order terms depend on the quantity and assortment involved. We are able to accept orders and meet requests according to customers' size-tables and technical specifications. The clothing is manufactured using Russian semi-automatic machines, Romanian R-12 and R-20 machines, Japanese machines (from Shima Seiki) and English machines for making cotton cloth. We also have special sewing equipment made by Japanese, German, Italian and Russian firms. The company has up-to-date sewing equipment from Pfaff, Rimoldi and Brother, and special machines for sewing knitted clothing. |
