Vilija was founded in 1948, in the very centre of Vilnius Old Town. In 1993 the factory became a joint-stock company where the employees have control of a block of shares and now it is one of the largest and most experienced knitwear producing enterprises in Lithuania. Modern electronic equipment has been installed: STOLL CMS 433.6, CMS 422, CMS 402, LNCU, DSTR (8 gg) from Germany; JUMBERCA TLJ-5E, TLJ-4E, DWN-3E (5, 7 and 10 gg) from Spain; R-20, R-12 from Rumania, DIAMANT from Germany, PFAFF sewing equipment from Germany, JAMATO from Japan, TEXITA from Italy, MONTI steam presses from Italy and ROLEX from Germany. Each year the designers at the factory present over 500 new models, which are later turned into fashionable jumpers, pullovers, jackets for women and men, and suits for women. The knitwear produced by Vilija is known for its immaculate quality as well as for its interesting design, which is the reason for the great demand, not only in Lithuania but in other countries as well. Since 1989 the factory has been seeking foreign markets. Up to 85% of the production is currently sold to Spain, Germany, Finland, Sweden and Italy. In 1996, 15% of the sales were distributed to Lithuania and 85% to Western Europe. The reconstruction of Vilija began in 1987 and the total area of the factory is currently 14,500 m2, of which 8000 m2 are used for in production. Some 450 employees work at Vilija. The factory needs yarn: mixed wool, cotton, wool, cotton with linen and viscose. The managers and specialists are actively seeking yarn not only in Lithuania but also in other countries. We are also looking for foreign partners who would like to set up a joint venture or who are able to make investments in our factory or are in a position to buy high-quality yarn and equipment. |
