Bank Communications Centre Ltd. (Banku komunikaciju centrs-BKC) was established in November 1993. The goal of establishing the joint stock company was clearly defined – to develop common access to the S.W.I.F.T. network, providing joint use of the access hardware and software for the seven largest commercial banks of that time.

To enable the staff of the commercial banks to use the above software and hardware, it was necessary to develop a data transmission network, providing access from the Local Area Networks to the resources available at BKC. Such a data transmission network was developed with the help of Cisco Systems routers, ensuring further development of the network functionality and services accessible via the network.

Developing this network, BKC became the first owner of a Cisco 7000 series router in Latvia and in the Baltic States.

When establishing a network like the one owned by BKC, it is essential to ensure the network’s reliability and safety. BKC has accomplished this by itself, with its own resources, using the expertise and experience of its staff.

During its course of operation, BKC accumulated experience of building safe data transmission networks based on Cisco routers, and started to provide data transmission services to other organisations and companies.

In 1994, BKC established access to Internet for its network, to make it possible for the network users to use the global Internet resources.

In 1995, BKC, in co-operation with the sole proprietorship “SAF”, developed the first models of microwave lines produced in Latvia, and used them to expand their network. The first FrameRelay hubs have already been established in Liepâja and Ventspils.

BKC’s reliable staff has facilitated this operational progress of the company. Our best experts participated in the very beginnings of modern data transmission networks development when Internet was introduced in Latvia and the first access points were developed.

Data transmission network design and development is a significant component of the JSC Bank Communications Centre services. We offer SERIOUS TECHNOLOGY – FOR SERIOUS USERS.
