In 1997 Latvijas Energoceltnieks (LEC / Latvian Power Building Ltd.) celebrated its fifth anniversary. It can proudly review its success and achievements in this rather short time period, when, from an unknown small company, it has grown into one of the most powerful enterprises in its sphere in Latvia, with approximately 280 employees and annual turnover of approximately 6,8 Mio.USD (1997).

The main activities of the company are : 

  • construction and assembling of 0.4 kV - 330 kV overhead power transmission lines, substations, distribution units
  • installation of 0.4 kV - 110 kV cable lines
  • relay protection and automatic systems
  • industrial automatic control systems
  • construction of communication cable lines and networks
  • installation of overhead and underground fibre optic cable lines

The limited liability company ‘’Latvijas Energoceltnieks’’ was formed in May 1992, from the privatized state power construction company LATESA. All the specialists, who have been working in the company from the very beginning, have a long work experience, modern work technology, and closely cooperate with our partner companies in Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Finland, Norway, as well as using the Western technology and equipment possibilities available in Latvia.

In order to ensure the development of the company and its competitiveness under market economy conditions, the material and technical basis is continuously upgraded with new, modern Western equipment, machinery and technology.

Every year not only turnover and the number of employees increases, but also the volume of the work. Recently, besides overhead power transmission line construction, substation construction, assembling works, which from the very beginning have been the main areas of activities, such new and modern fields have been acquired as the construction of telecommunications networks, installation

of wind generators, installation of fibre optic cables, and the building of a mobile telecommunications network. The company carries out its work not only in Latvia but also abroad - Germany, Georgia, Ghana; and in the near future the activities are envisaged in other countries of the world, too.

In 1996, according to turnover, our company was the third biggest, and in 1997 the second biggest among the construction companies and the biggest among the power building companies in Latvia.

During the recent years ‘’Latvijas Energoceltnieks’’ has formed several daughter companies and closely cooperates with them:

  • the limited liability company ‘’Baltik Elektro’’ - Latvian - German joint venture dealing in wholesale of electrical goods and electrical materials. It has become the biggest company dealing in this area in Latvia;

  • the limited liability company ‘’Kono’’ - the company dealing in the sale and lease of small mechanisms for construction works. It is the official representative of the companies ‘’Bobcat’’ - small excavators and loaders, ‘’Altas Copco’’ – compressors, and ‘’Daewoo’’ - forklifters;
  • SIA ‘’Vidzemes Energoceltnieks’’ - the construction of 0.4kV - 20 kV power transmission lines, substation cable lines, electrical installation works;
  • SIA ‘’KML’’ - a Latvian - German joint - venture construction company.

The employees of the company are regular trained in the VPAS ‘’Latvenergo’’ training centre, and abroad - in British ‘’Eastern Electricity’’, Finnish "Länsitec Oy", German companies ‘’ABB’’, ‘’Stetzler’’, ‘’Koch & Mayer’’ and others. References from the long term customers and cooperation partners - ‘’Latvenergo’’, ‘’Lattelekom’’, ‘’Baltkom GSM’’, ‘’Latvijas Mobilais telefons’’, ‘’Ventspils nafta’’, JSC ‘’Brocéni’’, ‘’M.F.WACHTER’’, ‘’HOCHTIEF’’, ‘’Koch & Mayer’’ and others - prove the level and quality of the performed work and high qualification of the LEC personnel.
