Latshipagent provides a whole range of expertly-conducted services within the shipping industry. The Latvian Shipping Agency Co Ltd., better known in the English speaking shipping community as 'Latshipagent', was established in September 1991 as soon as it had first been possible to break through the former state’s monopoly, thus creating one of the first entirely private enterprises of Latvia in the shipping trade, notably in ship agency. Thanks to the recommendations, earned quickly, among its business partners and principals, Latshipagent has been honoured by BIMCO as the first Broker Member from Latvia.

Major activities

Latshipagent provides its services mainly in the following spheres:

• Liner, port and general agency for any kind of vessels calling at Riga and other Latvian ports.
• Forwarding of conventional and containerised general and bulk cargoes in the port of Riga, on-forwarding to various destinations in the Baltic States and CIS countries and vice versa, and ensuring customs clearance.
• Trucking of containers to and from the port of Riga in cooperation with well established Latvian road haulers.

• Brokerage, chartering (tonnage 1000 and 10,000 - region of operation, the Baltic, north Mediterranean), shipment.
• Marketing of cargo transportation schemes, negotiation of contractual carriage and handling terms, expertise on shipping matters under local circumstances.

The management of Latshipagent is entrusted to real experts in shipping -- many of them used to be seafarers, then employees of Latvian Shipping Companies or Riga commercial port and many have had worthwhile experience in shipping business internationally. Most of the company's staff are well trained, highly qualified and skilled workers.
