The history of our dairy dates back to 1927. The state company was privatised and restructured in 1994, becoming the Joint-Stock Company "A/s RIGAS PIENA KOMBINATS”. We are now the largest milk processing plant in Latvia and have won the leading position in the Latvian dairy market. Since 1998 the company belongs to the holding company AVE LAT GRUPA.

Rigas Piena Kombinats Ltd. operates a modern dairy at Bauska Street 180 in Riga and exports several products both to EU countries and Russia.

Within the next few years we aim at widening the geographic scope of our export and at increasing its share in the Latvian market. RIGAS PIENA KOMBINATS also plans for introducing the quality management system and for obtaining ISO 9001 certificate.

Currently our dairy produces almost 100 different products. The main product groups are:

Aseptic milk products:

Aseptic milk “Lase” (6 varieties) with storage time up to 6 months;
Aseptic sour cream “Lase” with storage time up to 3 months; •
Aseptic yoghurt “Triyo”.

Milk products:

Pasteurised milk, sour cream, sour milk products (buttermilk, kefir, ryazenka, “Bio Lakto”), butter, various curds products, dessert yoghurt (4 varieties);

Ice cream:

About 45 different types of ice-cream, including coated ice-cream, ice-cream in waffle cups, ice-cream in “family” packs, non-packaged ice-cream and ice-cream mix.

Juices:

Four types — orange, multivitamin, apple and pineapple; marketed under the brand name “Vita”.

The company is continuously introducing new products and mostly enlarges its range of ice-cream. RIGAS PIENA KOMBINATS is the only company in Latvia producing coated ice-cream. During the last two years the new types of ice-cream constitute 15% of the total ice-cream output. The company accounts for 40% of the Latvian ice-cream market and 30% of the milk products market in Latvia.

The company is paying increased attention to the products for balanced and proper nutrition. RIGAS PIENA KOMBINATS offers milk “Lase” with fat content of 0.5%, dietetic buttermilk, skimmed milk curds, ice-cream with low fat content. “Bio Lakto” is particularly healthy as it contains live bacteria that strengthen the human immunity system and improve functioning of the alimentary tract.

The plant has two production units, one for whole milk products and the other for ice cream. The company also operates a small dairy in a rural area. The advanced technology of the company makes it possible to process 50,000 tons of milk each year. In 1995 the company installed aseptic packaging line from TETRA PAK thus facilitating the application of the most modern technology for production of fruit juices. In 1996 the company completed another important project — the installation of “Lase” milk line, that produces six varieties of pasteurised milk in aseptic packaging “Tetra-Brik”. “Lase” is the strongest of the brand names for milk products patented recently by our dairy.
